How to Become an Office Services Temporary Employee

Office Services is always in the market for office workers with excellent customer service and computer skills who are interested in temporary employment. Temporary positions can sometimes lead to permanent employment. Important qualities of an effective temporary worker are excellent computer skills, accuracy, communication skills, willingness to ask questions, flexibility, and dependability

Step #1: Complete the general employment application through Human Resources. Application information can be found at the MSU Applicant Page. After submitting your application, you need to go to Human Resources in the Nisbet Building at 1407 S. Harrison Rd., Phone 517.353.3720 and take the typing test.  We require 50 wpm, with seven or fewer errors, test on the Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint assessments. After completing these tests, you must, notify Human Resources that you would like your resume and test results sent to Office Services.

Step #2 : Contact Office Services at 517.355.6620. Let them know that you have asked Human Resources to forward your information to this office.

Step #3: When Office Services receives your resume and testing information from Human Resources, your application is retained on file and you will be contacted when an assignment that fits your skill level becomes available. Pay rates for temporary employees vary according to the skill requirements of the assignment.  Please see the link "Information for New Temporary Employees" before you report to a new position.
